Audrain County
Coalition On Reducing Drugs

For years, members of the Audrain County governmental agencies have individually tried to battle a growing drug problem in the county, sadly, without much success. In 2023, an idea was born to try and bring those governmental entities together to battle it together as one. From this idea, ACCORD was born and launched in early 2024.

In 2023 alone, emergency response agencies responded to over 80 calls for overdoses ranging from alcohol to opioids, with one death being reported from opioids, specifically fentanyl. This number should frighten you, as even just one overdose from drug use is not acceptable.

ACCORD’s mission is simple

“To Reduce the Use of Opioids and Other Harmful Substances In our County”

That’s it.

It’s a simple mission to a complex problem and, we can’t do it alone!

We need your help as well—your ideas, support, criticisms, and word of mouth!

We, as governmental agencies, don’t have all the answers. But we know we can make an impact through our governmental agencies joining forces to address this problem.

We also know there are other community groups out there attempting to do the same, and we are more than happy to support them in their efforts. We would like to ask them for their support in outreach projects we may do in the community to raise awareness as we grow and learn from each other.

We also ask for patience as we mature as a coalition as we work together to try and make a difference because members of ACCORD live and work in the same communities non-members do. We’re all concerned about this and, we’re all working toward the same goal. Let’s do it together!
